From the Rector

Dear Parishioners,

Belatedly, a happy new year to you all!  I do hope

you had a good Christmas, despite the snow and

travel difficulties.  It was good to see so many of you

at our Advent and Christmas services  - far more people

came to our churches in Advent and Christmas 2009

than did in any year of the 1990s. That is encouraging!

But I hope that our new variety of services will enable you to feel more ‘connected’ with the church.  As you will see from the service list, on virtually every Sunday there is not only a Holy Communion or Eucharist; there is also a service which is not a communion.  Some are particularly special – like the St Valentine’s Day one.  That day falls on a Sunday this year, and we are taking the opportunity to celebrate marriage and family life.  Do come along!

Easter is quite early again this year, and a full programme of services and events will soon be available for the Lent and Easter period – the six weeks when we go from winter into spring; and from the ‘austerity’ and soul-searching of Lent, though the pain and darkness of Holy Week, to the joy of Easter Day.

With all good wishes,

Alan Megahey

If you can make it on any of the five Wednesdays starting on 17th February (Ash Wednesday) come to our Lent Lunches.

These are frugal but tasty; all we ask is a donation which goes towards helping a hospital in Uganda, and an old people’s home in Zimbabwe.

Everyone is most welcome – even (or especially) if you have never come before
